WELL AND WILL

8              well and will

Once, Lord Krishna and parth Arjuna were passing through a dense forest. It was dusk time and both of them were feeling tired and hungry. To deflect his attention Arjuna asked a simple question from Lord Krishna,

“Why it happens that a poor man gets more and frequent troubles and torture from the hand of destiny than a rich man?”

Lord Krishna smiled in his own style but did not answer the question immediately, rather said to Arjuna,

“Parth, we are feeling tired and hungry. It is getting late as well. It looks we have to stay here for night. This place seems perfect. Let us do some cooking. I go and collect some dry wood for hearth; you go and collect some bricks to make a hearth.”

Arjuna bowed his head and set out to find suitable bricks, wondering, where he would find bricks in the midst of a forest. Luckily, after a while he reached to a place where he noticed two wells side by side. Walls of one well looked strong as if newly made, whereas walls of other well were in ruined from. He reached to the ruined well, picked some bricks and came back.

While cooking Lord Krishna asked Arjuna,
“ Parth, how did you get these bricks?”

Arjuna told him about two wells.

Lord Krishna asked him again,
“Why he did not pick bricks from strong well and why did he pick bricks from the ruined well. Have you not ruined more the already ruined well?”

Arjuna felt light struck. He realized that Lord Krishna is trying to answer his question   “Why it happens that a poor man gets more and frequent troubles and torture from the hand of destiny than a rich man?” in his own style.

Arjuna humbly replied, “My lord, I thought, why to deface a good and strong well. I further thought it is better to pick bricks from already ruined well.”

Lord Krishna smiled and said that, this is the answer to your question which you had asked me. Both strong and ruined wells had the threat, that, their bricks might be taken away. However the stronger one survived the threat. The threat could not do any harm to that. The weak well had to bear the brunt. It will have to face the brunt again and again and again.

Lord Krishna said,
”Parth, those wells over there represents will power of human. Those having strong will power survive the threat. Threats (troubles) come. They will come again; they will come to a person having strong will power and also to a person having weak will power. But, person, having weaker will power will be hurt again, again and again as his weak will power makes him vulnerable. It is not always the destiny behind our troubles. Some times our approach is the reason for continue incoming of troubles. A rich man having weak will power may become poor, a poor having strong will power can become rich.

To be continued.....
